Susan is thrilled to be exhibiting at the Hengistbury Head Visitors Centre Gallery, where you can view her collection of fine art mixed media sculptural crochet throughout May 2024.

Fine Art Crochet Series

During her Masters in Textiles studies at The University of Creative Arts Farnham, Susan developed her Finding my Voice series, developing her creativity in fine art crochet.

Inspired by walks at the Dorset coast, Susan has developed a Seaside Patterns collection of fine art crochet pieces reflecting the rugged coastline and sky.

Susan has created a series of colourful Joyfulness artwork to brighten up your day, lift your mood and help your wellbeing.The traditional art of crochet of blankets and baskets can be seen in Susan’s Homeware series of work.

Talking Tree 19 October to 2 November 2022

Floral Bliss

Fine Art Crochet Artist Susan Blandford welcomes you to view Floral Bliss. This artwork was developed as a response to the Farnham University of Creative Art Masters and PHD students' 2019 research trip to Japan.

Thrilled to visit Kenrokuen Gardens, with its vision of natural shrubs and Yukitsuri frameworks. Inspiring Floral Bliss, a rope crochet panel interweaving crochet yarn, Japanese indigo dyed fine cotton and wire floral hyperbolic planes, stitched with Kintsugi style gold thread, supported on a vintage ladder, evoking images from the gardens.

Talking Tree

Susan creates contemporary crochet sculptural, pictorial and functional pieces featuring hyperbolic planes in a myriad of materials. Juxtaposing music and crochet developing diverse fine art crochet pieces with the working title of 'Finding My Voice'.

Talking Tree

Talking Tree is a Climate Emergency Centre that has been developed by a group of volunteers concerned about the changing climate and biodiversity loss. Talking Tree provides a venue for local people to meet, to share information and ideas about how we can build a stronger, more resilient community in Spelthorne and the surrounding area.

Talking Tree is at 91, High Street, Staines Upon Thames, TW18 4PQ and our café is open 10:30 – 15:30, Wednesday to Friday and 10:00-15:30 on Saturday, serving vegetarian/vegan food, teas, coffee and cakes.
